Dave has had a physically demanding life, starting with an early focus on fitness in various forms including running, swimming, wrestling, and martial arts. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division for six years from the age of 19, and subsequently spent 32 years in Southern California as a bodyguard in executive protection. During the 90s, he co-founded a bounty-hunting business capitalizing on California's new three-strikes law. Dave protected numerous high-profile figures, from celebrities to Saudi royal family members and CEOs. Despite being dedicated to fitness, by his late 50s, Dave began to struggle with joint pain and weight gain due to long working hours and a lack of energy. He tried numerous diets with limited success until discovering the carnivore diet via Dr. Shawn Baker's YouTube channel. This lifestyle change brought him relief from inflammation and joint pain, and helped him lose significant weight. Despite skeptical reactions from others about his unconventional diet, he feels better than he has in decades and has no plans to revert back to the Standard American Diet (SAD).
