Rick decided to overhaul his diet, transitioning to a ketogenic, then a near-carnivorous diet, following his son's successful weight control regime. His health improved dramatically: he lost 85 pounds, his blood glucose normalized, his hypertension was controlled without medication, and his gout and lactose intolerance disappeared. Despite initial weight loss leading to a slower metabolism, adjusting his meal frequency and focusing on protein intake helped maintain his health. Rick now has a healthier lifestyle, is tested for cancer twice yearly, and attributes his improved health primarily to dietary changes.
