This story is about a Brownie, or fairy, who lives in the coal-cellar of the house. He helps the family and hopes that they’ll repay him with a bowl of milk at night. The old cook has always done this but when a new cool comes along she doesn’t believe she needs to. The Brownie does not like mess and one night as he comes looking for something to eat he goes into the kitchen and sees a huge mess. He eats the food and leaves a mess of his own. Sleep Tight!
