What was the relationship like with your parents like? What’s the first word that comes to mind to describe the relationship with your dad? Is this the same word you want your kids to use? Why or why not? Ben Killoy has been helping dads break the cycle and create a lasting feeling of change for the last 6 years. He helps them grow through generational trauma by redefining what it means to be alive. He is a certified dad and life coach. Ben grew up on a farm in Southern Wisconsin, right after high school he joined the marine corps, and then fought the hardest battle of his life which we will learn about today. Agriculture is a unique profession for this conversation because a lot of our listeners currently work with, have worked with, or will be working with their parents or their kids. Some, as we have talked about before, may not get a chance to grow up professionally until they are near retirement. Others that are listening might be the people who aren’t letting their children grow up. How does this effect the individual’s ability to be a great role model? What do I need to do to raise a girl….treat them the same or different? What in the culture today has made it more of a challenge to be a great dad? Most dads have been told how to make a living, but are rarely taught how to live. How do we feel “ok’ about taking time off of work? How do we prioritize time with family, with our kids? Work life balance gets discussed a lot, is balanced really mean 50/50? High performing dads are a “thing” Are some people busy on purpose? What does it mean to be busy? People can magically find time for things they want to do….. How do we make it to where we want to be with our kids/family? Can a dad be good in their career and be a good dad? What if our listener isn’t a dad? How can dad advice translate to everyday life? How could using this conversation today help make you better suited to find a mate? What if I am a female listening to this? How does this apply to me? Can our listeners be a fatherly figure to someone who isn’t their blood child? What does it mean to come home? Are we looking for home in the wrong places? What is “home”? What does that mean? You can’t find or build what you don’t first have for yourself…….. How does trauma play into this process?
