There were certainly some larger-than-life personalities on both sides including Sir Ian Botham, Alan Lamb and David Gower to name but three for England. Chris Broad may not have been in that bon viveur category, but he let his bat do the talking and became Man of the Series. Along the way, he became only the third Englishman after Jack Hobbs and Wally Hammond to three score hundreds in consecutive Ashes matches.
