It took a team effort, but the New York Mets erased a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Chicago Cubs 9-7 to reclaim control of the 3rd spot in the NL Wild Card race. The Mets faced an early hole, with David Peterson not having it and forcing Carlos Mendoza to manager very aggressively early. A 5 run 5th inning capped off by a Brandon Nimmo 3-run home run tied the game at 6. Francisco Alvarez gave the Mets the lead for good with a go-ahead two-run home run and it's the largest comeback win for the Mets this season. Now, Jonah Tong goes tomorrow for the Mets as they will start play with a 1 game lead with five games to go in the season.
