The Red Sox (27-27) split their doubleheader with the Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon and night at Fenway Park. The Sox lost the nightcap, 2-1 and wasted a solid performance from Lucas Giolito on the mound. The Red Sox are 5-4 on their current homestand that wraps up on Sunday. The Sox are now 6-13 in 1-run games. ----- Game 1 Recap: Rafael Devers played hero in the opener with a game-winning RBI single in the Bottom of the 10th Inning and the Red Sox won, 6-5. The Red Sox got solo Home Runs from Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu & Abraham Toro. 5 different Red Sox relievers worked a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. ----- On The Shelf- After undergoing an MRI on Saturday, lex Bregman was placed on the Injured List with a strained right quad. Bregman suffered the injury in Friday's win against the Orioles. It's expectetd that he'll miss an extended period of time. He had a similar injury with the Astros in 2021. ----- MLB Debut: Marcelo Mayer made his much-anticipated MLB debut in Game 2 of the Doubleheader on Saturday. He went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts. Mayer, 22, was selected in the 1st-round (4th) overall in 2021. Mayer joins Kristian Campbell & Hunter Dobbins as Sox players to make their MLB debut with the big club in 2025. ----- #'s of the Day: With Hunter Dobbins working 4+ Innings in the 1st Game on Saturday, Red Sox starting pitchers have failed to go 5 Innings in 11 of the last 17 games and in 6 of the last 7 games.
