About this episode
Detroit Tigers swept the Kansas City Royals taking the final game of the series 4-2 at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night. Detroit's offense was highlighted by a two-RBI double from Trey Sweeney in the third inning, along with a solo home run from Riley Greene, which propelled them to a lead they would not relinquish. Tigers' starting pitcher Tarik Skubal delivered a solid performance, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on three hits, and striking out seven to earn his 17th win of the season. The bullpen, led by Brenan Hanifee and Will Vest, secured the win with 2.2 innings of effective relief, with Vest earning his second save of the year. The Royals managed to score runs in the first and eighth innings, with Yuli Gurriel and Salvador Perez contributing RBIs, but it was not enough as Alec Marsh suffered his ninth loss, giving up four runs in just 2.2 innings. The Tigers' win improves their record to 79-73, while the Royals fall to 82-70.
