Welcome, Ashley! Dr. Ashley Contorno, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, earned her bachelor's degree with a double minor in sociology and psychology at Cleveland State University. After completing her undergraduate studies, she went on to obtain her doctorate, which became the cornerstone for her career in physical therapy. Her role as a travel physical therapist spanned 2 1/2 years, bringing her to the West Coast and staying there! In California, Dr. Contorno and Steven Balderama opened South Bay Strength Company in 2018. What started as a 1,300 sq. ft. endeavor has grown into an expansive 8,000 sq. ft. facility over five years. Beyond her notable achievements in physical therapy, Dr. Contorno has specialized credentials in canine rehabilitation, manipulation, functional movement, and musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics. In the powerlifting arena, she has made significant marks with a 592 dots in sleeves at a body weight of 164 pounds. Dr. Contorno's primary passion lies in education. Hosting clinics and seminars at South Bay Strength Company, she imparts knowledge to budding powerlifters, sharing insights and lessons she wishes she had known at the start of her own journey.
