Happy Thursday, Cassettes! Since Disney introduced the first full-length animated film in 1937, the studio has been at the forefront of animation. But as time went on, more studios began getting attention for their classically animated works. When Disney animation fell into its dark age after the death of Walt Disney, animated films from other studios took the spotlight. Even when Disney was thriving during its Renaissance, these studios marched on and gave audiences alternative animated films with darker stories. This week we decided to look at the 2D animated classics that didn't come from the House of Mouse. In order to do this, we watched as many non-Disney classically animated films as possible and made a list of our top 10 favorite! In the interest of keeping the list to 10 movies, we decided to leave off Studio Ghibli films. We WILL do a Studio Ghibli episode at some point.
