She shares her lifelong struggle with weight despite being sporty and active in her early years. Significant weight gain occurred during a high school exchange in Japan, leading to an ongoing battle with maintaining a healthy weight, exacerbated by knee injuries and surgeries. Joanne explored a few diets, including calorie counting and hypnotherapy, with little success. Her breakthrough came in August 2022, when she discovered intermittent fasting through Gin's book, Delay, Don't Deny , leading to a steady and sustainable weight loss journey. Joanne highlights the psychological and physical benefits she experienced, including improved emotional balance, stronger physical fitness, and the ability to enjoy activities like stick fighting and yoga. Her story also touches on family support and how intermittent fasting has fit seamlessly into her lifestyle. Joanne's advice for newcomers to intermittent fasting is to approach the journey with self-love and patience. It is essential to adopt intermittent fasting for oneself and not others, finding a supportive community can be invaluable.
