It'd been over two years since we had England captain Joe Root on the pod, and his brother Glamorgan star Billy hadn't been on the pod at all until they both joined the lads for this special episode (although Billy was sat in the studio as his then-team-mate Luke Fletcher appeared a couple of years back, so he knew what he was letting himself in for!). Greggy, Millard and Somerset-seamer Jack Brooks ask Joe about the World Cup final, The Ashes, his first away trip (and the wardrobe malfunction that came with it), nearly taking his first Test 5-fer back in January and his bat-drop celebration that he stole off former team-mate Brooksy. Billy joins the fun to talk about his useful advice* for his brother on his Glamorgan team-mate Marnus Labaschagne for the Ashes, bagging an Aston Martin deal due to his own batting heroics last year, and he gives us a masterclass in Welsh. A larger than life character, who very much fits into the Barmy Army mould of being a 'people's player', Nottinghamshire's Luke Fletcher joins the chaps on the podcast this week. The Shackles Are Off present to you Episode 4, which includes The Bulwell Bomber's previous career working at Hooters, his aspirations of scoring a Championship ton (like our own Brooksy), and THAT delivery last summer which went viral after he decided to 'stick nut on'. With plenty of rain falling at Headingley on the opening week of the new County Championship season, Brooksy, Barmy Chris and Greggy found themselves in the company of former England wicketkeeper James Foster. In the words of Brooksy 'he WAS a big name'. The Shackles Are Off present to you the second consecutive episode featuring a wicketkeeper - and he delivers! Fozzy fills us in on Essex's rubbish function at Lord's after they won the Championship last year, playing for England so young, and what it's like to play with 'Chuckie' (or Alistair Cook to you and I).
