Following security failures that led to the near-assassination of former President Trump, in a Monday House Oversight Committee hearing, both Republicans and Democrats alike called for the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. At the same time, there is a momentum shift in Washington as Vice President Harris rallies support to run for president in November after President Biden dropped out of the race. Now, some GOP lawmakers argue that if the President is unfit for reelection, Harris should invoke the 25th Amendment and take control.
