For the third time this year, the Federal Reserve cut key interest rates by a quarter-point earlier this week—however, to the chagrin of President Trump, they also signaled this may be the last reduction for several months. While lower rates can bring down borrowing costs for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards, Chair Jerome Powell doubts their move on Wednesday would bring much relief to what he called the ‘struggling housing’ sector.
