Dr. Hammer is a Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, a pediatric intensive care physician, pediatric anesthesiologist, mindfulness expert, and the author of GAIN without Pain: The Happiness Handbook for Health Care Professionals. Dr. Hammer wrote this book as way to give hope to others who may be trying to find a way to regain happiness. The passing of his son was the catalyst for the GAIN method and for this book.
