Kyle Worley is joined by Dr. Brian Vickers to discuss Romans 5:9 and answer the question: Why the blood? Questions Covered in This Episode: Romans 5:9 says, “Since therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” Here is the question: Why the blood? Propitiation 101. Why was blood necessary for the forgiveness of sins? Helpful Definitions: Propitiation: Christ’s atoning sacrifice as our substitute, Christ is both the sacrifice and the place of sacrifice. It is through that particular sacrifice that God’s just wrath against sin is addressed and is averted by Christ’s death for us. He also serves as assistant editor of the Southern Baptist Journal of Theology.
