Are Small- and Mid-Cap Stocks Starting to see some Love? (2/13/24)

(2/13/24) Markets didn't do a whole lot on Monday, starting flat in the morning, a brief interlude of buying at midday, and ending flat in the afternoon. The markets' trajectory remains essentially unchanged. Interestingly, Small- and Mid-cap stocks had a pretty good day, up 1.8%, which could be indicative of rotation action into those stocks, and a little "FOMO" activity there. And the S&P 400, the Mid-Cap index, has actually been doing better, possibly positioning to take out the previous high from January of last 2022. Defensive stocks could begin to pick up some traction as markets begin to consolidate, portfolios rebalance, and investors start to reduce risk in overweight holdings.
