(6/27/23) Markets are looking forward as the quarter's end rebalancing commences. However, revisions to economic data and a clearer picture of inflation should not be discounted. As the year-over-year comparisons begin to narrow, there is the possibility for an uptick in inflation, which would be a catalyst for the Fed to raise rates once again...something markets have not been pricing-in. The real risk to markets is a re-acceleration of inflation, leading the Fed to hike again. The recent run-up in Tech stocks has been driven on the thesis of lower inflation and lower rates, and higher rates of growth over time. A more aggressive Fed will be a problem.
