(1/4/24) Santa failed to deliver his rally to Broad & Wall by definition, with the declines in the last three trading days taking out all the gains built up before the end of 2023. So what happens next? Markets are still set up for a bit more correction, still sitting on a solid sell signal. Markets are finally starting to work off their over bought conditions, which could create a bounce. The question then becomes whether markets can get their feet back under themselves. This could keep pressure on markets over the next few days. The correction, however, is providing a better opportunity to put capital to work. The number of stocks trading above their 50-DMA is still high, so there is still room for reversions, particularly in stocks that did well last year.
