(2/2/23) We were wondering Wedednesday whether the Fed would get hawkish, based on the easing of financial conditions in the markets; they wimped out and essentially said they're not worried about financial conditions in the short term: a complete shift from previous statements at Jackson Hole last Fall, and in December's meeting, as well. that gave markets a green light to rocket up into the close. The NASDAQ looks to be ahead another 1% after Meta's earnings last night, coupled with an announced $40-B share buyback program; buy backs continue to be the main driver of the market this year. The Buyback Index is well out-performing the S&P, so far. Markets continue to push upwards into over-bought conditions, the buy-signal weakening, however, and our money flow indicator is close to turning over. Be careful chasing the market, which is entering territory that's primed for a pullback and correction.
