(4/12/23) March Inflation data was released earlier this morning (prior to this recording) reflecting a lower-than-expected rate of inflation of 5%, year-over-year. Markets were hoping for a smaller number, which it is hoped would spur the Fed to at least pause in its interest rate hike campaign. And a weaker inflation print was also expected to have resulted in a sharp rise in the markets. A higher than expected number was thought to lead to a sell off in the markets. Bullish advocates are hoping for a Fed pause and associated monetary accommodations later this year, which the cooler inflation number would suggest.
