(8/17/23) Can markets reclaim the 50-DMA and negate its breakage of that support level? Yesterday's downside close was probably the break we were looking for. Markets are oversold, and a rally back to the 50-DMA that fails will set up for a re-test of the 100-DMA. This is a normal correction within any bull market rally. Moving averages are now catching up to the market, and prices are coming down towards a convergence with the moving averages. Earnings and underlying data have been okay this year, thus far. The recent uptick in rates is now weighing on markets, financials in particular, but really nothing to worry about, as the corrective process is normal. This may provide you with a buying opportunity in some areas that are now beaten down.
