(5/2/23) Markets ended Monday where they started in anticipation of this week's Fed Meeting outcome. Fed Fund Futures are predicting a 25-bp rate hike, but the real issue will be what the Fed says in its post-meeting presser. Economic indicators suggest the Fd cannot cut rates at this point, and there is some evidence of a resurgence in inflation in some areas, something for which markets are not prepared. Markets are trading at February's highs, despite bank failures, higher interest rates, and economic weakness. The 20-DMA continues to provide rising support for markets. Some corrective action in the next month or so will provide an opportunity to put more capital to work.
