Big Cap Companies Getting Spanked on Poor Earnings (10/27/22)

(10/27/22) As markets wrap up October's business, the generals' earnings reports are not at all encouraging: Meta's was only okay, tempered by Mark Zuckerberg's all-in bet on the future of the Metaverse. Markets did end higher than they started, but there remain two levels of resistance to overcome. The Fed's "Operation Twist" and treasury liquidity; the demand for short-term T-bills is outpacing longer-term instruments; Liquidity matters; there's high risk in the Fed stoking inflation with QE; the imbalance between buys and sellers of bonds; voters will decide elections with their pocketbooks as their guide; there is a growing possibility of Recession by 2023; investors want a quick fix, avoiding any pain; yield curve behaviors & signal as telling us it's coming.
