(1/8/24) The axiom, "as goes the first five days of January, so goes the month," could prove ominous for investors unless markets can rally past where we were at the close of December. And there is a decent, 40% correlation between negative January's and negative years. Not EVERY year works out this way, however. (At the time of this recording, Dow futures were down 150-pts head of the open.) Markets broke below the 20-DMA on Friday, and technical indicator show markets are still overbought. Some of the bullish sentiment is beginning to reverse as markets continue to work it off; a better opportunity to put capital to work is coming. Patience pays.
