IRS shutters ‘most operations,’ furloughs employees as shutdown continues

IRS operations were business as usual in the early days of the government shutdown, but with no end in sight for the funding lapse, the agency says it will now have to shutter most of its operations. The agency, however, says that 10s of 1000s of furloughed employees will be paid once the shutdown ends.
