In the late ‘90s, Anna Vasquez, Cassandra Rivera, Elizabeth Ramirez, and Kristie Mayhugh all received phone calls accusing their lesbian friend group of a crime that never actually happened. What followed was a modern-day witch trial, landing the San Antonio Four –as they’d come to be called– in prison for over a decade.
