MARINARA SAUCE 1 cup olive oil 3/4 cup minced white onion 3/4 cup minced garlic (2 to 3 heads garlic) 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste 4 (28-ounce) cans diced tomatoes 5 tablespoons sugar 3 1/2 tablespoons salt 1 cup fresh chopped basil or about 3 tablespoons dried 1 tablespoon black pepper Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until light brown. Add tomato paste and cook until dark red. Add tomatoes, sugar and salt; cook for an hour, stirring frequently. Add basil and pepper. Use immediately or cool and freeze for later use. Yield: 1 gallon. Note: This recipe makes 1 gallon. You can always freeze half of it to enjoy later. Need help with your home? We'd love to help!
