David Bash - International Pop Overthrow Festival (IPO)

THE ARWEN LEWIS SHOW - Featuring David Bash Today Arwen welcomes David Bash, Founder of the International Pop Overthrow Festival! As a youth in the early 1970s, David Bash knew he had caught the pop music bug when he found himself unable to sleep each Christmas Eve, as he anxiously awaited the broadcast of the WABC Top 100 the next morning. By the end of that decade Bash had amassed a record collection of more than 3,000 items, and though it's since been mostly converted to CDs, the collection has never stopped growing. In the '80s Bash received a B.A. in Journalism from New York University and a Masters in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. Although he taught Psychology at several community colleges throughout the '90s the journalism muse continued to beckon, and in 1995 he began writing CD reviews for Yellow Pills magazine and Audities magazine. Since then Bash has written reviews and articles for magazines such as Amplifier, Bucketfull of Brains, Discoveries, Goldmine, Shindig, Ugly Things and Entertainment Today, as well as liner notes for several CD releases. In August of 1998 Bash founded the International Pop Overthrow Festival In Los Angeles. Since that time IPO, as it's affectionately been labeled, has taken place in several cities across the U.S. and Canada, as well as in Liverpool (at the World Famous Cavern Club), Stockholm, and Copenhagen!
