Detroit Lions and New York Giants battled in NFL Preseason Game #1 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the Giants winning 14-3. Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker showed a lot of promise in his first game action since November of 2022 after suffering a torn ACL at the University of Tennessee. Hendon Hooker left the game early and was evaluated by the Lions Medical Staff. Nate Sudfeld started the game at quarterback for the Lions and came back in to replace Hendon Hooker. Craig Reynolds led the Lions offense in rushing with 11 yards on four carries, the Lions offense could not get moving all game. Brandon Joseph had an interception for the Detroit Lions defensively, while Brodrick Martin had a sack.
