Why is it so difficult for a team to find ways to close out games, for so many years?

-Nebraska has lost so many close games the last 5 years, and Saturday was another example. Caleb Tannor said the team got ‘comfortable’ and that the Gophers ‘wanted it more’…that doesn’t really resonate well with a belief of winning -How can that type of mindset actually exist?
