918: SARMs, 10-Undecenoic Acid, Swedish Doctor, Repeat Question, Organic Milk Allergy (HouseCall)

Check out today's questions: Coty: Hi Dr. Cabral, your Podcast have quite literally been a life changer for me. I wanted to know your take on sarms and weight training. Their inital creation was for medical issues such as bone loss, mucsle dystrophy amongst other things. But applied to healthy diet coupled with 3-4 days a week in the gym, at very low dosages they been shown to have intense muscle mass gain and retention, increased endurance, and fast recovery/joint health. Sorry for such a drawn out question but I am interested to hear your unique insite on the subject. Thank you :) Diana: I love your show. I just found it a few weeks ago and have been catching up on older episodes, but it's certainly not something I can do in a weekend. I just finished listening to a different podcast series on candida, which shall remain nameless because I have major issues with how the alternative medicine professional who made it represents all traditional medicine professionals as quacks. In this podcast, the person stated that ALL antifungal medications (they never said whether herbal supplements were included in this term) cause candida to switch from a yeast to a fungus, which is the harmful opportunistic form. The only way to combat fungal candida, according to them, is to take undecylenic acid (specifically 10-undecenoic acid rather than the salt form calcium undecylenate) to encourage candida to revert to its yeast form. All other fatty acids, including monolaurin, are in some ways antagonistic to candida and will force it into its fungal state. I've also read conflicting opinions about whether candida can acclimate to herbal antifungals or not. Some say herbs merely discourage candida rather than killing it so there's no possibility for adaptation; others say candida can get used to herbs and will form a resistance against them so it's necessary to cycle the supplements. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Obviously you believe in the herbal approach and also include undecylenic acid in your protocol (I think I've listened to the episode where you explain your protocol at least 4 times already). It's been difficult to find reliable information explaining HOW herbal antifungals work and even harder to find an explanation about undecylenic acid. I am really interested in alternative medicine, I live in Sweden and here we don't have any big titles in functional medicine. Everything that isn't conventional medicine is "alternative" and the only thing that is kind of accepted the non-conventinal way is chiropractic,massage and TCM. So my question will be; My dream is to be an ND (or something similar) and open a clinic like yours and help people in the alternative medicine way. I feel I little lost how to make it here in Sweden, Is the only option to move to Canada or US to get the ND degree, and start my clinic there? Also what are things I can do or take once I have the symptoms such as nausea, dizziness or headaches? Angela: Dear Dr. Cabral, My 9 month old has developed flushed red cheeks over the last two weeks. They have began to get a little scaly and very dry. The Dr said it was eczema and I am so upset and lost as to how it happened as I follow most good health principles. For example: - he was born vaginally, naturally with no drugs - We allowed the vernix to sit for a week - whole plant foods were introduced at 6 months - We eat almost 100% organic produce - We eat limited amounts of pasture raised, organic meats and wild caught fish like sardines and salmon. - We drink spring water - We use limited soap, only a little organic body wash every few days. - We give him Epsom salt baths once a week - The house is cleaned chemical free with vinegar etc - Clothes are washed with soap nuts and vinegar - we give him nude time in the sun on the grass each day to help his vitamin d levels I am beyond frustrated as I feel like I am doing everything by the book and yet he has still gotten eczema. The things that I think may have contributed to this are: - He was mixed fed from about 2 weeks old because he kept losing weight when I exclusively breast fed (I have insufficient glandular tissue) and I was able to mix feed between breast milk and organic cows milk formula for only 6 months. Now he gets all his milk from organic cows milk formula. - I make home-made milk kefir and he has some most days. I was giving it to him for a probiotic but am not sure if this created the problem. I have since stopped feeding it to him but there has no change in his skin as yet. I was hoping you could give your very valued opinion on what I could do to help my little boy.
