Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let's get started! Affton: Hello! My husband is a huge fan of Dr. Cabral. He listens to his podcast every single day (and has been for more than a year now) and has completely changed his lifestyle to follow all of Dr. Cabral's recommendations on the information that he provides, as well as that of myself and our children. My husband refers many people to his podcast and website, and shares the information that he provides every chance that he gets. He is a dentist in Missouri and has become increasingly interested in incorporating more treatment options that functional medicine would agree with, as he greatly trusts Dr. Cabral's advice, knowledge, and experience. I know this may be a long shot, but thought it would be worth asking. Does Dr. Cabral ever schedule to meet with anyone just to discuss the work he does and exchange ideas and information, since he is a wealth of knowledge? More of a laid back conversation, like over lunch or dinner in person, or even FaceTime or Skype? My husband would absolutely love to meet Dr. Cabral, and although I'm sure he is beyond busy, I thought I would reach out and ask, just incase this is something that he does. Thank you so much in advance for your time and consideration. Lisa: Hi Dr. Cabral! It has been a long time since I have asked a question here on your podcast. I did ask this question in the facebook group, however, I didn't really get a good answer. I'm hoping you are able to answer my question more in depth. I am without a doubt a kapha bodytype. You posted a picture of Kelly Brook's, and she could be my twin! I have her hair, face shape, eyes, nose, lips, arms, bust, waist, hips and thighs! I have done the 14 day detox and your CBO protocol. Although I am feeling better, I still struggle to lose weight. I need to lose 25 pounds to be heathier. I eat very clean, all organic, drink only water or green juices (never fruit juice). I tried Keto and felt the adrenaline rush, but mentally did not feel good on that diet. I was strict Keto too (high fat and kept carbs under 25). I have been practicing IF for the last year as well. My body does not want to release fat at all, and I'm really getting frustrated. I recently decided to stop IF and to just practice a 80/10/10 RAW Vegan diet. I am eating very high carbs (all from fruits like bananas, watermelon and mangos). I am no longer restricting myself and for the first time, I am actually feeling great! I have endless energy and feel very joyful. Why am I losing weight with high carbs if I am a classic Kapha body type? I feel like I am eating more now than I have ever ate before. Chelsea: Hello, I am interested in getting my constitution confirmed as I have listened to your podcasts and still a little confused about what mine is Thank you Holly: Hi Dr. Cabral, I love your podcast. I have been listening to it for the past month now and it has helped me and my husband so much. I was wondering what your opinion on iodine is. How many milligrams a day do we need of this? I am a vegan, and I'm worried that I do not have enough of this in my diet. I don't use iodized salt, can I get it from other Foods? I have heard that it's in seaweed, but that also many of the seaweed products sold have arsenic in them. What do you think? Sophie: Dr. Cabral, My mom has a high platelet count, in the 600-800k range. She is in her 60s, and her Dr. has recommended she goes on hydroxyurea. She doesn't want to to take the drugs, and I'm hoping you can shed some light on what causes high platelet count or some tests and or/protocol she can do to potentially avoid taking the drug. Jacqueline: Hi Dr Cabral! There are no words for the gratitude and respect I have for all you are doing. I am trying to dive deeper into the ways of Ayurveda and am also currently combating bacteria/yeast overgrowth, hormonal imbalance, etc. Currently finishing yoru 14 day detox and starting the CBO plan but have a question for you. Due to inflammation and histamine reactions as well as wanting to follow Ayurveda more closely to aid in healing my body, I can not tolerate and am trying to avoid reheating foods, meal prepping or eating leftovers. All those years of paleo meal prepping when I was in the fitness industry and I had NO idea I was eating "dead" food that was possibly adding toxins into my gut?! I would prep for five days out at some points. On that note I also can not (for some time now) tolerate raw foods/salads without paying for it for several day due to my gut health being so compromised. I pray, hope and look forward to the days of being healed and free of all of this, but I find myself stressing over what to eat where I have never had a problem with this before. What would you advise someone that works outside of the home to do for meals during working hours? I am at a loss? The cafeteria where I work has very limited healthy options aside from a salad bar. There are no cafe/restaurants near by. I am a busy RN and only get 30 min for lunch. I do not want to only have shakes on work days if I can avoid it but is this my only option? I would love your opinion and value it greatly. It's also not possible for me to cook hot food and put it directly into a thermos before work because as of now I get up at 445am , commute one hour and ten min to work and start at 6 30 am. I'm writing in on behalf of my boyfriend who has a pyruvate kinase enzyme deficiency with hemochromatosis (sorry that's a mouthful). He's changed his diet to include foods lower in iron and has pretty much eliminated his red meat consumption. He's also changed his lifestyle to routinely going to the gym 4-5 times per week. He used to take medication to keep the condition under control, but because this disease is so rare and the medication has many side effects, he has found more natural and alternative ways to keep himself feeling healthy. My question is, what else can he do to keep himself from slipping into the liver pain and severe inflammation he sometimes feels when symptoms flare up? What can he do to help himself feel healthy all the time? Any advise is appreciated! Thanks so much!
