The Celtics (61-21) concluded the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season with a 93-86 win over the Charlotte Hornets Sunday afternoon at TD Garden. Joe Mazzulla elected to sit the team's Top-6 players for the 2nd time in the last 3 games. The Celtics finished the season a season-high 40 games above .500. ----- Scoring Leaders: Payton Pritchard led the Celtics with 34 Points. It's his 2nd game of 30 or more points this season. Sam Hauser hit 4 3's and scored 15. Luke Kornet had 11 Points & 8 Rebounds. Jordan Walsh hit a big 3 late in the game to extend the lead and ended up with 10 Points and 8 Rebounds. ----- 1st-Half Nuggets: The Celtics opened the game on a 24-5 run and led 33-15 after the 1st Quarter. Boston hit 7 3's in the 1st Quarter while Charlotte went 0-9 on 3's in the opening quarter. The C's led by 21 in the 2nd Quarter and led 54-43 at Halftime. Payton Pritchard scored 18 Points in the 1st Half. The Hornets were 2-for-17 on 3's in the 1st Half. ----- Up Next: The Celtics will find out Tuesday night whether they will play the Orlando Magic or the Atlanta Hawks in the 1st-Round of the upcoming NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs. The C's dropped 2 of 3 during the Regular Season to the Magic. The Magic won 2 of 3 from the Celtics during the Regular Season and both wins came at TD Garden. ----- Reaching 60 Wins: The Celtics reached 60 Regular Season wins for the 2nd straight season with Friday's blowout win over the Hornets. It marks the 15th time in franchise history where they have won 60 or more during the Regular Season and it's the most of any NBA teams. The Celtics won 66 games and an NBA title back in 2007-2008 and won 62 games the next season and that was the previous time where they went back-to-back with 60-win seasons. ----- Jrue Recognized with Red's Award: Prior to Friday's game Jrue Holiday was recognized as this year's Red Auerbach award recipient. The award for the Celtics legend is given to a player or coach who best exemplifies the spirit of what it means to be a Celtic though exceptional performance on and off the court.
