Roquan Smith Reverses Course and Will Play for the Bears in 2022

Despite his trade request and feeling disrespected by the Bears' new regime, All-Pro Roquan Smith has reversed course and will play this season without a new contract. Smith said he’s “betting on myself” and called negotiations “distasteful” while claiming the Bears put de-escalators in their offers. The team's third and final preseason game is Saturday in Cleveland, but chances are starters will get little to no action at all in that one.
